“Reproducing while Black: The crisis of Black maternal health, obstetric racism and assisted reproductive technology”In this 2020 article, Dr. Dána-Ain Davis calls on scholars to look past the narrow focus of accessibility and recognize that more work and scholarship need to be done in the area and engagement of Black women with assisted reproductive technologies. Note: it primarily focuses on heterosexual couples, but remains imperative.
“Obstetric Racism: Naming and Identifying a Way Out of Black Women’s Adverse Medical Experiences”In this 2020 article by Dr. Dána-Ain Davis and Dr. Karen A. Scott, the authors argue that race is weaponized as a biological construct and is reinforced as a risk factor because of an overreliance on data and outcomes from large administrative databases and reviews from health services research
“The Ethics of Perinatal Care for Black Women: Dismantling the Structural Racism in ‘Mother Blame’ Narratives”This 2020 article by Dr. Karen A. Scott does not focus on ART specifically, but it does mention the racism experienced by women before, during, and after pregnancy, and highlights the ethics of perinatal care for black women.
“First, Do No Harm: Why Philanthropy Needs to Re‐Examine Its Role in Reproductive Equity and Racial Justice”In this 2020 article, the authors call out philanthropic enterprises for ignoring the scholarship of Black women scholars and also for not recognizing that the solutions for the reduction of reproductive mortality and morbidity already exist within the community that is carrying the greatest burden. They also state the need for diversification of the healthcare workforce, which feels critical in the field of fertility. 
“Race, Gender, and Genetic Technologies: A New Reproductive Dystopia?”In this 2009 article, Dorothy E. Roberts focuses on the changes within the United States and its stratified reproduction, as the manipulation of genetic outcomes becomes more accessible and common within reproductive services.
